And then…

Suddenly it’s October!!! Holy smokes, time is burning past like a meteor flying through the heavens.

I’m in full-on work mode. I’ve made 4 wreaths that will be available from Beekman1802.com  when the Holiday website launches on or around November 1.  Now I am concentrating on making things for the Country Living Fair in Atlanta later this month.  I’ve got several things finished but I have not photographed them yet.

CL Fair Atlanta 2017

Be sure to get your tickets in advance – that will save you some $$ that you can use to shop!!  I’m going to let you in on a little secret, too: I think this will be my last trip down there so if you have wanted to go and have not before, please get it together and come see me! I love, love, love this show – it’s amazing. You will not regret going. It’s a fabulous girlfriend weekend, by the way.  Tickets and all the info are available via the link above.

I had a really fun time up in Sharon Springs, NY last month for Harvest Festival. It was great to see and catch up with old friends and meet new ones. I had a wonderful time out at Beekman Farm, too.  My niece, Sophie, was able to come with me and that was a lot of fun. She made quite a splash; she’s a red-headed troublemaker.  Here are some pictures of our trip for you.

So this is the wreath I was working on at the Farm:

And this is how it turned out:

It is one of the 4 wreaths that will be for sale on Beekman1802.com.

Here are the other 3:

I’ve also recently completed a wreath for a customer using her late mother’s ornaments. It  was a joy to make.

I added the jumbo Poland ball on the left with the Christmas lady, the topper, and the house at the top (so she would think of home) and a few other odds and ends but most of it was hers. Great bright, happy colors.

In addition, I’ve made a wreath with this happy pixie taking center stage.

This is the only photo I’ve got to show you while I was making it and it’s pretty bad due to the fluorescent lighting in my workshop. But I love the color palette.

IMG_3683 - Version 2It’s a bit different with coppery colors and autumnal tones.  I love the finished wreath. Once I take some pictures, I’ll share them as soon as I can.

In other news, you may remember that I ridiculously agreed to open my house on a tour this Saturday, the 7th.  That’s been a real time sucker, too, but the house is looking really beautiful after all the new paint, papering, and general sprucing up.  The great thing is that once Saturday is over, we can just relax and enjoy our “new digs.”

Among the changes I’ve made, I took a leap and changed the color of our front door from traditional Charleston Green (which is a black green) to a gorgeous light color with a finish that is mirror-like.

This is Danny putting the first coat on:

And here is the finished door, minus the knocker (I took that to be polished up – it needed it after 31 years).

IMG_3616 - Version 2

Looks fabulous, doesn’t it?  We are getting a new wooden storm door and that will not get put on until the eleventh hour…at least I hope it will.

This is my builder Mike (closely watched by Emma P), fitting it the other day. It then had to go to the painter’s, then back to the place that made it to put the glass in, and finally back here for Mike to install it. Hopefully, it will get in by Friday. Fingers crossed. Whew.

I’ll leave you now but I hope all of you are well.  This has been a very, very difficult week (they seem to keep coming and coming at us, don’t you think?).  I’m having a really hard time shaking off the sadness.  So, my wish for you is the peace which passeth all understanding. Hold everyone tight. xo

Booty for Atlanta

I finally was able to photograph all the beauties I have been making to take to Atlanta’s Country Living Fair this week (don’t forget – it’s Oct. 21-23!).

So have a sneak peek at some of what I will be taking with me.  I’m on a mad tear trying to get everything together at the last minute since we take off early Wednesday morning.

Please come see me in person to see all the treasures I will have with me. I’m so excited to see everyone!  Remember, I’m in Booth D34-36 on Dogwood Trail (my usual spot in case you’ve visited before).

First are 2 new wreaths:dsc_0139-version-2 dsc_0110-version-2

Followed by 2 new topiary centerpieces:dsc_0297-version-2 dsc_0271-version-2

And, then there are a multitude of Tiny Topiaries. I had a blast making these – there are some that are just too cute for their own good!  These are just some of them. I’ve got lots more, too!

Have a great night everyone. See you soon, I hope!

Country Living Fair Atlanta Next Week!

clf1016web612x612-copy

This time next week, we (hopefully!) will be all set up and ready for the Fair to begin on Friday, October 21!

Set in beautiful Stone Mountain Park, just outside of Atlanta, this is my favorite of all the Country Living Fairs.  I’m excited to be back and very happy that the Glittermoon booth will once again be on Dogwood Trail in our old spot: D34-36.

Here are some photos of how the booth looked last time (back in 2014 – you all know why I had to miss last year).

I’ve been hard at work making lots of new things but I have not had a chance to properly photograph them yet.  That’s a project for this weekend. Until then, here are a few (terrible) phone pictures to whet your appetite.

It’s not too late to get tickets! You can even get them at the gate if you want (though you save some $$ by buying in advance).

Take a look at some of the exciting things that will be going on over the course of the weekend and then get yourselves all lined up for some amazing shopping!

I hope to see you there!

I’ll be back in a couple of days with more (and better) pictures.  Til then, have a great weekend!

I’m Just a Whirling Dervish

I feel terrible for not chiming in here for ages to say hi to all my blog friends.  Truth is, I am overwhelmed.  But in a good way.  This is peak season for me, as you might imagine, with the Christmas goose waddling along in its inexorable journey towards December 25.

I have wanted to share with you stories of Country Living Fair Atlanta – which was terrific.  I met so many fun people, the weather was darn near perfect, and we just had a grand, if tiring, time.  As always, the creativity of the other vendors and artisans at the Fair was off the charts. Click on the pictures to see them full size.

Phylliss and I made a couple of stops on the way home to do a little antiquing; we also stopped at Replacements in North Carolina.  Have you ever been there?  It is an amazing place – but dangerous for a chinaholic like me!  No wonder the normally 9 hour drive home took 12!

I was tempted...but the price tag put me off just a smidge. Whoa nelly. Still they are fabulous.

I have been working on commissions and still have some to do in between shows.  These 2 commissioned pretties are heading south to Florida for the winter.

Tomorrow, I set off for Westminster, MD for the Mistletoe Mart.  I wrote a blog piece about it last year.  If you are in the neighborhood of Maryland, DC, etc., why don’t you stop by and say hello?  I’d love to see you.  The show runs Thursday, Nov. 6th – Saturday, Nov. 8th.

IMG_2738I’ve also had really exciting things happening.  In September, R-Home Magazine (a spin-off of the local Richmond Magazine) asked me to create a Christmas place setting for an article about holiday table settings.  I made a big centerpiece and mounted it on a vintage silver plate tazza, plus some smaller topiaries.  My setting was all pastel pinks and silvers with a touch of aqua thrown in.  The Nov/Dec issue just came out – I am very excited to see it in actual print!  If you click here, you can see the real magazine pictures full size.

A look at the page of holiday table settings. The Glittermoon one is at bottom left.

These are some of what I made for the magazine shoot. Click on them to see them bigger.

There is lots more exciting news on the horizon but right now, I’ve got to get back to work.  I will check in later.

Hope you all had a happy Halloween.  Can you believe Thanksgiving is almost here?  Yikes.

Feel free to say hi in the comments – I love hearing from you.

Getting Ready for Atlanta!

In the Glittermoon Booth at the Atlanta Fair 2013

In the Glittermoon Booth at the Atlanta Fair 2013

Day after tomorrow, Phylliss and I will be heading off for Stone Mountain Park and the last Country Living Fair of the year. You can still get advance tickets online through tomorrow, 10/21.  That option saves you both time and money!

I have been out in Santa’s workshop pretty much non-stop trying to get things made to take with me.  I apologize for not being very present on the blog.  This is the time of year when I just never seem to be able to stretch myself enough to cover all the bases. It will most likely be like this until the middle of December.  When I get back from Atlanta, I have 6 commissions to make in between the shows so I am feeling a bit stressed over that.  But very, very happy to have the opportunity to make special wreaths for people!

Also, pretty soon I will be able to tell you some exciting stuff that I have had to keep to myself so please stay tuned.

Before I sign off for the evening, I do want to share with you two new wreaths and a bunch of the “Mini Topes” that I have been making.

Let me know what you think of them, ok?

Pink Joy

Pink Joy

This is Pink Joy.  This is for the person who loves the hot pinks, golds, greens, and other snazzy colors for Christmas.  It has some really cool stuff on it.  I think this one hung on a mirror would be fabulous.

Mid-Century Memories

Mid-Century Memories

Mid-Century Memories is just that.  With a wonderful Santa candy container as the centerpiece, this baby has all the stuff we boomers grew up with at our Christmases.  That’s even an aluminum tree branch poking out of the top.  Way too much fun!

And next is a little gallery of some of the “Mini Topes” that I have made for this fall.  There are some really fun ones in this bunch – and some pretty ones, too.  Please click on the pictures to enlarge them.

And, finally, I leave you with an elegant wall pocket to hang as part of your Christmas decorating.IMG_2658 - Version 2

Have a wonderful night everyone!  I hope to see you in Atlanta!

And The Winner Is…

I am happy to announce that we have a winner for the pair of 3-day passes to the Country Living Fair in Atlanta, October 24-26.

And the winner isLeAnn Fitzgerald!

Congrats, LeAnn!  I will be emailing you a request for your address so I can mail your tickets to you.  I look forward to meeting you in person at the Fair.

I want to thank everybody who emailed and entered the drawing.  I enjoyed your lovely comments very much.  Though you did not get lucky today, I hope you will come visit the Fair anyway – you will not regret it.
