Mistletoe Mart This Week!

I’m in the final stages of getting ready for one of my favorite shows, The Mistletoe Mart in Westminster, MD.  The show runs this Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 10 – 12 and is at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension right in the historic downtown area.  Hours are Thursday and Friday from 10-8; Saturday is from 10-4:30. If you are anywhere near the  DC/Baltimore area, you might consider making the trip!  I wrote all about it here a couple of years ago.

I dropped by to quickly show you a few new things that I will be taking to the show.

First up are 2 new wreaths in glorious multicolored palettes:

And here are some of the new little things I have made recently:

In addition to Vintage Christmas, I will have the full compliment of Glittermoon Cards (including Christmas cards) as well as my original photography.  My booth will again be located in the Great Hall (where you enter) but I’m in a different spot this time around.

I hope you can make it to Westminster. I’d love to see you!

Have a great night, everyone!

Booty for Atlanta

I finally was able to photograph all the beauties I have been making to take to Atlanta’s Country Living Fair this week (don’t forget – it’s Oct. 21-23!).

So have a sneak peek at some of what I will be taking with me.  I’m on a mad tear trying to get everything together at the last minute since we take off early Wednesday morning.

Please come see me in person to see all the treasures I will have with me. I’m so excited to see everyone!  Remember, I’m in Booth D34-36 on Dogwood Trail (my usual spot in case you’ve visited before).

First are 2 new wreaths:dsc_0139-version-2 dsc_0110-version-2

Followed by 2 new topiary centerpieces:dsc_0297-version-2 dsc_0271-version-2

And, then there are a multitude of Tiny Topiaries. I had a blast making these – there are some that are just too cute for their own good!  These are just some of them. I’ve got lots more, too!

Have a great night everyone. See you soon, I hope!

Just Dropping In

I cannot believe that it has been a whole month since I last posted here! Where on earth is time going anyway????

I made it up to Sharon Springs and had a wonderful time. When I catch my breath, I’ll try to write a post to bring you up to date on all the happenings in the funnest little village you’ll ever visit.

So you know that I’m still kicking, I wanted to drop by with a couple of quick pictures of some of the stuff I’ve been working on. I’m chipping away at the list of orders but it’s going pretty slowly.  And I’ve got to get geared up for the Country Living Fair Atlanta in just a few short weeks (yikes!).

I’ll try to come back soon with more.  In the meantime, happy Fall!! It’s finally cooling off a little – yay!

Where Has the Summer Gone???

I’ve been up to my eyeballs this summer with a myriad of things demanding my attention – or so it seems.  And the time is just flying by!

I’m working on custom orders now and I have a huge list of them, probably the largest number ever and with deadlines looming, it is a scramble.  If you are already on my list, you are the most patient, kind people ever. Thank you so much for your forbearance…keep hanging on, I’ll be in touch when I get to yours.

These are snippets of a couple I’ve been working on lately.

Has it been as hideously hot where you are as it is here? The workshop is not exactly  a comfortable paradise these days.  Though I’m of an age where I never want to wish time away, I am looking forward to more reasonable temps – soon, I hope.

++++++++++++

And, in a totally unrelated aside…I’ve been getting notifications from Pinterest that this topiary, “Christmas Fantasy,” is being pinned. Lots of notifications.

I clicked on one of those notifications this morning and – oh my, I can’t believe it – it’s been pinned just shy of 32,000 times!!!

WOW

That boggles my mind, quite honestly.  I didn’t share this with you to pat myself on the back but because it is kind of mind-blowing in its magnitude.

A happy ending to the week for me.

++++++++++++

And for you, I wish you a happy end of summer.  September is right around the corner.  Scary, isn’t it?

In a little over 2 weeks, I will be heading north to Sharon Springs, NY for the Harvest Festival, September 17-18. I’m really looking forward to being back!  You can read about it here or here. I hope you can make it!

I’ll leave you with a photo that’s maybe not exactly depicting the dog days of summer but it does seem like a good thing to do on a hot Saturday afternoon.

Have a cat nap on me.

The Workshop is Humming

Has it been raining where you are? IMG_5727

I can’t remember so much rain during May but, honestly, as a gardener, I’m not complaining….yet.  I also am loving the cool temps. I’m not someone who adores the hot and humid of Richmond in summer.  It can take its time getting here.

I’ve been feverishly getting ready for the Country Living Fair coming up in Rhinebeck, NY, in the beautiful Hudson valley.  Are you coming? I hope so!

Get your tickets now!  Click here to go there.

I’m keeping everything crossed that I possibly can cross that nothing comes up between now and June 1 (when we hit the road).  We continue on the almost daily rounds of doctor appointments, physical therapy, etc.  Driving Mr. Daisy has been just fine, though.  I do believe he is feeling better and he looks really good – all very encouraging.  I don’t want to get overly confident as we are still in that first year when anything can – and may – happen. If you’ve a  mind to, keep some positive thoughts going for us – we appreciate it more than we can say.

My faithful friend has been watching over me as I toil in Santa’s workshop. IMG_5678 (1)

How lucky I am.

As it stands right now, I will be bringing NINE full-size wreaths to the show, the Golden Halo topiary, and bunches of “tiny topes.” Like this little one with a pine cone elf in a teacup.IMG_5711

Because of the rain, I have not yet photographed the new wreaths properly ( I prefer to shoot them outside in natural light) but I can show you some iPhone pics of 5 of them in process.

This first one is so pretty – I love the soft colors. She is called “Shabby Sweet.”

I just finished this one yesterday. It has that huge poinsettia bell on the bottom – the one that is a music box which plays “Silent Night.”  It makes quite a statement.

Then there is this one that is all hot pinks and bright golds.  It’s called “Palomino Pink.”

This cutie pie is called “Harlequin Hugger.”

And, finally, there is this one as I was just geting going on it. It is about 90% finished at this point.  I hope to complete her tomorrow. She is all blues, magentas, and golds – really pretty so far!

I’m hoping the sun will shine Monday so I can photograph them all.  I’ll post pictures for you and you can compare them to what you see here.

Have a terrific weekend everyone and stay dry!  I’ll leave you with another photo of my sweet girl. xoIMG_5721

Golden Halo Centerpiece

Just wanted to share with you some more details of the “Golden Halo” Topiary/Centerpiece that I finished last week.

When I make one of these, I have to bear in mind that it will likely be seen from all sides.  That means the design and placement of each ornament has to be well thought out in terms of the whole so that it does not get lop-sided but stays fairly uniform in shape.  It takes time. Then finishing it out – dealing with the gaps between ornaments – is a whole  other thought process and is quite different from how I finish a wreath.

So, without further ado, here are pictures of all 4 sides:Golden Halo Centerpiece© Glittermoon Vintage Christmas 2016 1Golden Halo Centerpiece© Glittermoon Vintage Christmas 2016 3Golden Halo Centerpiece© Glittermoon Vintage Christmas 2016 6Golden Halo Centerpiece© Glittermoon Vintage Christmas 2016 4

I added the little red wooden angel to the back to make up for the fact that the topper is a bit underwhelming when viewed from this angle. I considered amending her backside somehow but finally rejected the notion since I felt it would be problematic when viewed from the sides. I’ll keep thinking about – who knows, I may change my mind.

And, incidentally, that white egg-shaped ornament near the top is a diorama with a gold nativity scene inside it.

Finally, I wanted to show you closer looks at the two angels.Golden Halo Centerpiece© Glittermoon Vintage Christmas 2016 2

“Golden Halo” measures approx. 19 inches tall; the base is a 12″ brass charger.  She is $225.

I will be bringing her to the Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck, NY the first weekend in June.
