Elfie Bells

Elfie Bells

Elfie Bells Wreath

The last of the 5 wreaths that will be traveling to the Country Living Fair is Elfie Bells.  I doubt you have to be a rocket scientist to know where its name comes from!

Elfie Bells started with that adorable kneehugger elf who sits in the center of the wreath. He is mounted on a platform that has all this wonderful tinsel that flops when he lets his “hair” down.  His color is a bit faded from age and that drove the unusual color palette.  Unusual colors or no, this one’s got a lot going for it and, best of all, it really makes me smile.

At the top is a pretty cool piece that is made up of 3 bells that are attached to a stiff silvery tinsel (again a bit faded – but so am I). To complement the top are a pair of enormously long bells on the bottom right.

Other than the bells there is a boatload of stuff with a wow factor. For starters is one of my personal favorites: the large graduated colors ball (top left) that has an almost Russian looking scene with jazzy reindeer. Otherwise, there are bunches of Shiny Brites, German balls, a pin art ball, and even a man in the moon (mid right). If you look closely there’s another little elfie brother to keep our main man company.

I got to use a couple of very cool copper-colored Shiny Brite stenciled ornaments on this one. Those and the reds, golds, and faded blues make up the whole.  It’s finished off with some red beaded garland for a final flourish.

I head out Wednesday morning for Atlanta so I’ve been packing and finishing up making various things.  Today, I packed 6 crates full of what my husband has dubbed “Christmas Canapes.”  I took a few photos while I was packing but there are a lot more. In fact, I think I’ve got about 75 or so of these little delights.

Have a peek:

But this guy has to be my favorite:

Meet Mr Squirrel, who is all set for his Christmas with a vintage tree on one arm and a fabulous, very old glass walnut on the other.  I sure hope he goes to a good home because I’m pretty attached to him.

Have a great night everyone! I hope your Monday went smooth as glass.

A Little Stocking Stuffer

A magical little treat just for you.  xa80

A happy Christmas dream.

Sleep tight.

Santa’s coming.

Are You Still Speaking…

To me?

Golly day, I have been lost in the hinterlands but I promise to be back pretty soon with all sorts of exciting news that I want to share.

Including the absolute highlight of my year!

Can you be just a teensy bit more patient (I know, it is asking a lot) and bear with me?

In the meantime, I finished the wreath with the big elf (he’s 11 inches tall!) and the bubble lights.  It’s called, “Really Retro.”  I love the way it turned out.

Really Retro is involved in the exciting news, too.

Meanwhile, I started on a new one today.  I was feeling in an angelic mood.

She is an old Noma angel tree topper and…she still works!

And since today is December 1st, I got to open the first window on my Advent calendar!

Do you have an Advent calendar, too?

Busy, busy, busy!

I’m pretty much holed up out in Santa’s Workshop, Southern Branch, making holiday magic.  Sometimes it seems the gods are not on my side…today I’m suffering with “Arthur” in my right thumb and then I managed to burn 3 fingers and my thumb on my left hand!  Geesh.

Tomorrow will be better, I know it.  The good news is that I finished one major commissioned project and another wreath in lovely pastel colors that will be available for purchase in the near future.

Before I closed the door tonight, I picked out a couple of things to use as a starting point for the next one and I wanted to share them with you.  So, here ’tis.IMG_2830

That elf is huge!  He’s been smiling at me for months, patiently waiting his turn.

Happy Friday, everyone!
