And then…

Suddenly it’s October!!! Holy smokes, time is burning past like a meteor flying through the heavens.

I’m in full-on work mode. I’ve made 4 wreaths that will be available from Beekman1802.com  when the Holiday website launches on or around November 1.  Now I am concentrating on making things for the Country Living Fair in Atlanta later this month.  I’ve got several things finished but I have not photographed them yet.

Be sure to get your tickets in advance – that will save you some $$ that you can use to shop!!  I’m going to let you in on a little secret, too: I think this will be my last trip down there so if you have wanted to go and have not before, please get it together and come see me! I love, love, love this show – it’s amazing. You will not regret going. It’s a fabulous girlfriend weekend, by the way.  Tickets and all the info are available via the link above.

I had a really fun time up in Sharon Springs, NY last month for Harvest Festival. It was great to see and catch up with old friends and meet new ones. I had a wonderful time out at Beekman Farm, too.  My niece, Sophie, was able to come with me and that was a lot of fun. She made quite a splash; she’s a red-headed troublemaker.  Here are some pictures of our trip for you.

So this is the wreath I was working on at the Farm:

And this is how it turned out:

It is one of the 4 wreaths that will be for sale on Beekman1802.com.

Here are the other 3:

I’ve also recently completed a wreath for a customer using her late mother’s ornaments. It  was a joy to make.

I added the jumbo Poland ball on the left with the Christmas lady, the topper, and the house at the top (so she would think of home) and a few other odds and ends but most of it was hers. Great bright, happy colors.

In addition, I’ve made a wreath with this happy pixie taking center stage.

This is the only photo I’ve got to show you while I was making it and it’s pretty bad due to the fluorescent lighting in my workshop. But I love the color palette.

In other news, you may remember that I ridiculously agreed to open my house on a tour this Saturday, the 7th.  That’s been a real time sucker, too, but the house is looking really beautiful after all the new paint, papering, and general sprucing up.  The great thing is that once Saturday is over, we can just relax and enjoy our “new digs.”

Among the changes I’ve made, I took a leap and changed the color of our front door from traditional Charleston Green (which is a black green) to a gorgeous light color with a finish that is mirror-like.

This is Danny putting the first coat on:

And here is the finished door, minus the knocker (I took that to be polished up – it needed it after 31 years).

Looks fabulous, doesn’t it?  We are getting a new wooden storm door and that will not get put on until the eleventh hour…at least I hope it will.

This is my builder Mike (closely watched by Emma P), fitting it the other day. It then had to go to the painter’s, then back to the place that made it to put the glass in, and finally back here for Mike to install it. Hopefully, it will get in by Friday. Fingers crossed. Whew.

I’ll leave you now but I hope all of you are well.  This has been a very, very difficult week (they seem to keep coming and coming at us, don’t you think?).  I’m having a really hard time shaking off the sadness.  So, my wish for you is the peace which passeth all understanding. Hold everyone tight. xo
