Golden Halo Centerpiece

Just wanted to share with you some more details of the “Golden Halo” Topiary/Centerpiece that I finished last week.

When I make one of these, I have to bear in mind that it will likely be seen from all sides.  That means the design and placement of each ornament has to be well thought out in terms of the whole so that it does not get lop-sided but stays fairly uniform in shape.  It takes time. Then finishing it out – dealing with the gaps between ornaments – is a whole  other thought process and is quite different from how I finish a wreath.

So, without further ado, here are pictures of all 4 sides:

I added the little red wooden angel to the back to make up for the fact that the topper is a bit underwhelming when viewed from this angle. I considered amending her backside somehow but finally rejected the notion since I felt it would be problematic when viewed from the sides. I’ll keep thinking about – who knows, I may change my mind.

And, incidentally, that white egg-shaped ornament near the top is a diorama with a gold nativity scene inside it.

Finally, I wanted to show you closer looks at the two angels.

“Golden Halo” measures approx. 19 inches tall; the base is a 12″ brass charger.  She is $225.

I will be bringing her to the Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck, NY the first weekend in June.
